  • Dermabrasion. This destroys the outer layer of the skin to remove dark spots and reveal clearer, younger skin. This service is offered by dermatologists.
  • Cryotherapy. This procedure freezes liver spots with liquied nitrogen. However, this could possibly leave scars or skin discoloration.
  • Laser treatment. This is the most expensive procedure for removing liver spots. This works by destroying the cells that cause pigmentation. This treatment may not work at once and one may need a few sessions before results can be seen.


There are also home remedies for liver spots. Lemon juice can help lighten spots as it has citric acid. The juice is applied to skin and left for a few minutes before rinsing. Honey and yogurt are  also said to reduce dark spots. Equal parts of honey and yogurt are mixed and applied to liver spots and left for around 20 minutes before rinsing.

Taking care of your skin is important to avoid liver spots. Regularly using sunscreen can significantly reduce skin spots later in life.
